Keio Research Highlights offers a taste of the important research and scientific developments from Keio University. Keio University is Japan's oldest institute of higher education, founded in 1858 by educator and intellectual leader Yukichi Fukuzawa. Fukuzawa stressed the importance of jitsugaku (science), which continues to be the university's guiding maxim.

A private university, Keio University is located at the heart of Tokyo and provides comprehensive education and advanced research in a wide range of scientific fields. It includes 10 undergraduate faculties, 14 graduate schools, and approximately 30 research centers and institutes, including a university hospital.
